What does Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Treat?
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treats chronic or severe neck or low back pain related to:

  • Herniated or Bulging Discs
  • Sciatica
  • Pinched Nerves (numbness or tingling in the arms or legs)
  • Disc Degeneration
  • Stenosis
  • Facet Arthrosis

What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic is an approach to total health that uses no drugs or surgery. We focus on diagnosing, treating, and preventing mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. The complaints we most often treat include back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Why is the spine so important anyway?
Our spinal column houses, surrounds and protects our spinal cord and nerve routes from damage. The spinal cord is made from billions of nerves. These nerves emerge between each of our vertebra and lead to our internal organs, muscles, ligaments, tendons and to other parts of our body that keep it functioning. If the spine is out of alignment the nerves are inhibited and our body functions do not perform at their optimal rate. Many diseases and ailments can be traced back to a misaligned spine. Learn more in About the Spine.

What is an adjustment?
We use our hands to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to improve nerve function, reduce pain, and restore or enhance joint function. The nerve system controls all of the tissues and organs in the human body. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. We adapt the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.

How often do I need to come and for how long?
We will work with you to determine the kind of care you would like, corrective or pain relief, and the frequency of your visits. Frequency of visits vary from 3 times per week to once a month or every other month. Some of our patients stop regular visits all together once they have reached their goals.

Are you real doctors? How much training have you had?
Yes, we are licensed doctors. Chiropractors are educated as primary contact health care practitioners, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment.  Educational requirements for doctors of chiropractic are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions.  The typical applicant at a chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, the requirements become even more demanding — four to five academic years of professional study are the standard. Because of the hands-on nature of chiropractic, and the intricate adjusting techniques, a significant portion of time is spent in clinical training.

In total, the chiropractic curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. The course of study is approved by an accrediting agency that is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

My doctor says I need back surgery – are there any other options?
We are pleased to say, YES - there may be. We offer a treatment called Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression which has been successful in treating chronic or severe neck or low back pain. We can consult with you to determine whether you can be helped with this non-surgical treatment method.

Are X-Rays harmful to my body?
The X-Rays we use emit less harmful rays than traditional machines. The frequency and rate at which we use them are not harmful to your body.

How much does this cost?
We offer different treatment plans and will discuss those with you during the Report of Findings. Sometimes insurance will help cover the cost. We will contact your insurance company for you and see if they will help cover the costs.

What is traction and how does it work?
Traction is a method we use to help restore normal curvature to the spine. We use weights to provide resistance with your neck tilted backwards. This is done in our office by trained specialists. We ease you into this treatment. Our patients have found this very beneficial in relieving the neck and headache symptoms.

Is this safe or beneficial for kids?
Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Injuries such as these may cause many symptoms including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort. Chiropractic care is always adapted to the individual patient. It is a highly skilled treatment, and in the case of children, very gentle.

Is this safe or beneficial during pregnancy?
Yes, in fact we recommend it. Pregnancy can be hard on your body. Keeping your spine aligned will help you feel better and may assist in an easier delivery.
